About the Warialda Standard

The Standard has been publishing for 120 years.

The Warialda Standard is distributed throughout the Gwydir Shire and north-west district to Coolatai,
Croppa Creek, North Star, Yetman, Bingara, Delungra, Inverell and Tamworth. This region boasts a strong agricultural sector and a diverse range of industries.

The Warialda Standard’s editorial policy is to present locals with local news.  The newspaper is very community-focussed and attempts to present facts without opinion or bias. 

Letters to the editor are encouraged.


About the Editor

The current editor, Laura Carroll, has been part of the Standard team since January 2014, however has just taken on the role of editor in July of 2015.

Laura was born and raised in Warialda, only leaving for a short period of time to study a double degree of Criminology and Law at the University of New England. She is passionate about local issues and strives to bring the latest news to the community each week.

Laura is involved in a number of local sporting clubs and enjoys working alongside citizens from all corners of the community.
